Adopt-a-Trail Program

The Adopt-a-Trail Program was developed in order to help the Trails Committee accomplish two goals:

1) to get residents acquainted with the trails in Town.

2) to keep the trails used and clear.

The main features of the program are:

  • Groups interested in adopting a trail will be assigned a trail by the Trails Committee, ideally close to the group's geographical location in town.
  • A Trails Committee member acts as a liasion to familiarize the group with the trail.
  • The group is responsible for the trail for one year.  Groups are asked to have two work days during the year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall.
  • Trail maintenance is intended to be light-duty, and involve:
    • Pruners or loppers
    • Gathering litter
    • Marking the trail, with the assistance of your Trails Committee liasion
  • Recognition comes in the form of a Certificate to each group acknowledging and thanking the group for their participation in the program.
