The Adopt-a-Trail Program was developed in order to help the Trails Committee accomplish two goals:
1) to get residents acquainted with the trails in Town.
2) to keep the trails used and clear.
The main features of the program are:
- Groups interested in adopting a trail will be assigned a trail by the Trails Committee, ideally close to the group's geographical location in town.
- A Trails Committee member acts as a liasion to familiarize the group with the trail.
- The group is responsible for the trail for one year. Groups are asked to have two work days during the year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall.
- Trail maintenance is intended to be light-duty, and involve:
- Pruners or loppers
- Gathering litter
- Marking the trail, with the assistance of your Trails Committee liasion
- Recognition comes in the form of a Certificate to each group acknowledging and thanking the group for their participation in the program.
